These colorful seabirds have a unique diving pattern in which they dive headfirst into the water to catch sardines and anchovies. They are endangered because of overfishing, predation, and habitat loss. Overfishing makes it hard for the Cape Gannet to raise chicks. An increase in their predators has decreased the amount of Cape Gannets. Their habitat has been urbanized, so they are not able to make a proper environment for the gannets to nest in.
